1. Scholarship Scheme under Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India
OBC-Scholarship schemes, viz.,
OBC Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme (50:50)(SS:CSS) :
This scholarship is awarded under Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India to OBC students studying within the State and those outside the State. The expenditure is shared between centre and state in the ratio of 50:50 (Central share: State share). The aim of this Scheme is to motivate children of OBCs studying at pre-matric stage. The income ceiling for eligibility is Rs. 2,50,000/- per annum.
OBC Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme (100% CSS):
This scholarship is awarded under Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India to OBC students studying within the State and those outside the State by this Directorate. This is a 100% Centrally Sponsored Scheme. The objective of the scheme is to provide financial assistance to the OBC students studying at post-matriculation or post-secondary stage to enable them to complete their education. The income ceiling of parents/guardians for eligibility is Rs. 100000/- per annum (including self-income, if employed)
SC Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme (100% CSS):
This is a continuing programme implemented by this Directorate under Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India to award scholarship to Scheduled Castes students studying within and those outside the State, so that they perform better and progress to the post-matric stage of education.The Scheme provides financial assistance to the Scheduled Caste students studying at pre-matriculation stage to enable them to complete their education. This is a 100% Centrally Sponsored Scheme. The income ceiling of parents/guardians for eligibility is Rs. 2Lakh per annum (including self-income, if employed).
SC Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme (100% CSS):
This is a continuing programme under Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India to award scholarship to Scheduled Castes students studying within the State and those outside the State. The Scheme provides financial assistance to the Scheduled Caste students studying at post matriculation or post-secondary stage to enable them to complete their education This is a 100% Centrally Sponsored Scheme. The income ceiling of parents/guardians for eligibility is Rs. 2.50 Lakh per annum (including self-income, if employed).
EBC Post-Matric scholarship (100% CSS):
This is a 100% centrally sponsored scheme being implemented by the State Government through this Directorate since 2017-18. The objective of the scheme is to provide financial assistance to the EBC students studying at post-matriculation or post-secondary stage. The income ceiling of parents/guardians for eligibility is Rs.100000 lakh per annum (including self-income, if employed).
2. Assistance to Voluntary Organizations
Under this scheme Non-Government Organizations/ Voluntary Organizations working for the welfare of OBCs are to submit their proposal(s) to the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India through online for availing grants-in-aid from the Ministry.
3. Special Central Assistance to Scheduled Caste Sub-Plan (SCA to SCSP):
The scheme of Special Central Assistance to Scheduled Caste Sub-Plan (SCA to SCSP) has been implementing by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India since 1980 with the objectives
To enable the SC families living below the poverty line to come out of poverty by giving subsidy for income-generating activities, and to develop infrastructure in villages with more than 50% SC population.
4. Construction of Hostels for OBC Boys’ and Girls’.
As part of the empowerment of OBC students and to solve the problems of accommodation, the Department initiated the scheme of construction of OBC Boys’ and Girls’ Hostels with the funding of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment(SJ&E), Govt. of India in various colleges of the State where there are no and/or enough hostel facilities.
5. Construction of Hostels for SC Boys’ and Girls’
The scheme of construction of hostels is one of the means to enable and encourage students belonging to scheduled castes to attain quality education under Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MSJ&E), Govt. of India. The earlier centrally sponsored scheme of hostels for SC boys and girls has been revised and is renamed as “Babu Jagjivan Ram Chhatrawas Yojana’ w.e.f. 01.01.2008.
Construction of four SC Girls Hostels (one each at Azad High School; Andro High School; Leimaram High School and Thanga Govt. High School) has been undertaken. Construction is completed for Andro H/S and Azad H/S and inaugurated during 100 days’ Achievement Programme of the State Government.
